Inside Visitation Policy as of 2/21/2021

Ohio requires each congregate site to develop an Inside Visitation Policy that will define specific guidelines based on the situation of their community and/or individual resident situations and safety. This policy will be communicated to residents and families no later than the effective date of October 12, 2020. Additionally, residents and families will receive education on COVID-19 symptoms and transmission and the importance of following visit protocols that have been initiated to maintain the safety of residents, visitors and staff. This policy will be maintained and revised as needed or directed. Residents and families will be notified by mail, email, phone, Edgewater Facebook or website of changes to the Inside Visitation Policy.

Each community is empowered to develop their visitation policy according to but not limited to the following factors:

Physical plant. Availability of sufficient indoor space and configuration of the space.
Staff availability for monitoring visits/supervising sanitation station and visitor screening.
Availability of face coverings.
Resident characteristics, both the resident population as a whole and for specific residents.
Case status in surrounding community; Case status in the facility; staffing levels; access to adequate testing for residents, staff, PPE supplies, local hospital capacity.
• Visitation must be temporarily halted, due to COVID-19 in the building and/or greater community.

The facility will maintain a log of visitors. The log will be retained in accordance with state and federal record retention requirements.
All visitors must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, including symptoms assessment and questions about exposure to COVID-19 each time they enter the facility. Facility staff will take visitor(s) temperature.
If the visitor is not a person known by the facility, the individual must produce legal federal or state identification or other satisfactory forms of identification before they are granted access to the facility.
Visitors and residents are required to wear a face covering during the entire visit. For the purpose of the current State Order, a face covering is defined as a surgical or procedural mask. The facility will not permit any visitation to occur if visitors are not wearing an appropriate face covering.
All visitors shall be at an age of maturity to facilitate social distancing and able to wear a face covering.
No more than two visitors shall be permitted per resident per visit.
The facility will encourage residents and visitors to have a contact-free visit. If contact does occur, the resident will wash hands thoroughly following the visit and, if possible, change clothes following the visit.
Items and surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected between visits.
Hand sanitizer will be made available to visitors and residents for use before, during and after the visit.
Visits must be scheduled with the facility in advance. The length of time allotted for the visit is 30 minutes. Visitors will be escorted to and from the designated visitation area by facility staff.
No food or beverage are permitted during visitation.
The visitation space will be monitored by the facility staff.
Visitors will not have access to restrooms – please plan accordingly.
The facility will continue to utilize outdoor visitation areas as weather permits.
